I’m not sure of the entire story, but back in 1989, Robyn Opthoff Lilek researched this 33 page report as part of her History Internship at WMU. Ms. Lilek currently works in the history department at the Kalamazoo Public Library, as does my mother-in-law, which is how I came to learn about this document.Starting in 1872, it takes you through the family histories of the farmers who sold their lands, the development of each section, and even the construction date of each home. Sprinkled throughout are fun little tidbits of information.
I’m a fairly new resident of Arcadia, but I’m sure even some of you original homeowners will find it interesting.
